Data notice v5

What this build does

Your diary
Periods, symptoms, pain, mood, sleep, meals and food photo thumbnails, water records and the water questions’ answers, weight, calm minutes and your getting-to-know-you answers (which can include pregnancy, hormones, medicines and health history) are saved in this browser on this phone, and there is no app-layer encryption, so anyone who can open this browser profile may be able to read them. Your diary stays on this phone unless you sign in and turn on cloud backup. Clearing the browser or losing the phone can lose anything that is only on this phone.
Your birthday
If you give it, your birthday is a month and a day, with the year only if you add it. It stays in this browser on this phone and is never part of the cloud backup; a copy of your data that you export yourself includes it. Rhythme uses it only for the birthday card: a wish, a direction for the year ahead read from the month, the day and the year it falls in, a reading of the day you were born when you add the year, and a cake in your room for the week. None of your health notes use it.
Health data you bring in (only if you choose to)
Rhythme can bring sleep, period days, spotting, cycle symptoms, weight, mindful minutes, steps, workouts, resting heart rate and temperature into your diary in the Rhythme phone apps: Apple Health on an iPhone or Health Connect on Android, read directly with your permission (sleep, period days and spotting from the last 90 days, and on an iPhone also steps, workouts, resting heart rate and temperature). Earlier versions could also read an Apple Health or Google Takeout export file on your phone; that has been removed, and anything brought in that way stays until you remove it. A direct read is read only: Rhythme never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect. Nothing comes into your diary until you tick it, and what you bring in is then treated like the rest of your diary (it stays on this phone unless you turn on cloud backup). Data from Apple Health or Health Connect is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties. You can remove everything brought in from You, then Apple Health and Health Connect, and change what the apps may read in Settings, then Health, then Data Access and Devices (iPhone), or in Health Connect, then App permissions (Android).
Cloud backup (a separate choice, off unless you turn it on; the account itself is only how Rhythme opens)
You can sign in with a code sent to your email and turn on cloud backup. A copy of your entries, your getting-to-know-you answers and your cycle settings (not your water records or water answers, which stay on this phone) is then kept in your account in a database hosted in Singapore, protected by row-level security. Other Rhythme users cannot see your backup. Our server functions use it to back up, restore and delete your diary, and authorised Rhythme administrators and the companies that run the database can reach records only when needed to run, secure or support the service; actions in the staff dashboard are logged. learning from records to improve the app is a separate choice, off unless you turn it on. Turning backup off stops new copies from this phone and lets you keep or delete the copy already there. Food photo thumbnails are never uploaded, and Luna’s AI help settings are unchanged by signing in. Turn backup off, or delete your account and its cloud copy, from Your account in the room. Your sign-in is handled by the authentication service; the publishable key in the app grants nothing on its own.
Luna’s AI help (paused)
Luna’s AI help, which reads notes her own rules cannot, recognises food photos and writes journal readings, is paused for now while we move it to a service licensed for Singapore. While it is paused, nothing from your diary is sent to any AI service, and the three AI choices cannot be turned on. Luna’s own rules still read most notes on this phone. If it returns, this notice will say exactly what it receives and where, and you will be asked again first.
Rhythme Plus codes
When you use an access code, Rhythme’s server records that the code was used, with a scrambled form of your network address, to stop misuse. When you sign in, the App also checks whether your account has Plus, so Rhythme keeps your account’s Plus access with its dates, whether it is a tester account and any staff note about it; these stay after you delete your account until we remove them, which you can ask for at hello@ranklore.ai. Plus episodes stream through short-lived links. Nothing from your diary is sent.
Ordinary service records
Our web host keeps standard connection logs, fonts load from Google, and free podcast episodes stream from their podcast host. There are no analytics of your diary unless you turn on “Help improve logging”; then only group counts and averages across at least 20 adults are produced, as described in the notice. Separately, the plaza shows how many people are in each group, which is not taken from your diary. There is no advertising, and we do not sell your data.
Help improve logging (a separate choice, off unless you turn it on)
For a meal logged from a photo, the entry keeps what Luna guessed (food names, grams and calories) next to what you kept or changed, so the estimates can be checked and improved; the photo itself never leaves your phone (added 25 October 2026). When it is on, Rhythme’s server may use your backed-up entries, with those of other adults who turned this on, to compute group counts and averages that improve logging, reminders and the app. Staff are shown only group results across at least 20 adults, never your entries, your notes or your name. Only entries made after you turned it on are counted, no AI service reads your diary for this, and counts and averages from diaries are held back for any group smaller than 20 people. Your choice is recorded on your account with the notice version you read. Once your account records that you turned it off, you are left out of counts made after that and your backup is kept; deleting your account removes the record. Research would always be asked about separately.
Plaza groups (only if you join one)
If you join a group in the plaza (Everyone, Trying to conceive, PCOS or Menopause), Rhythme stores that your account is in that group, with when you joined and last checked in, so you can be counted. Others see only the number, unless you also turn on Plaza friends (below). It is deleted when you leave, or after 75 seconds of silence the next time anyone uses the groups. Your phone remembers the group you chose until you tap Leave the group. Being in a group can say something about your health, which is why it is only ever a count.
Plaza friends (only if you make a plaza card)
Plaza friends is a separate choice, off until you make a plaza card: people in the same group who also turned it on then see your plaza name and look, and that you are in that group with them, and friends can send each other kind notes from a set list. Your diary, your cycle, your account name and your email are never shown. Notes are deleted after 30 days, at the next daily clean-up, and turning Plaza friends off deletes your card, friends, requests and notes; people you blocked stay blocked. A report goes to Rhythme staff with the two plaza cards and, for a note, its phrase, never your diary, and is kept for a year after it is decided.
For adults
Rhythme is for people 18 and over. The notice asks you to confirm it, and an optional age range and an optional birthday may be asked; a birth year that would make you under 18 is not accepted. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its cloud copy.
Your consent record
Every choice (on or off, when, and whether it was made in the notice, in You or at the first use of a feature) is kept on this phone and, when you are signed in, on your account, with the notice version you read. New optional choices start off; when the notice changes, the choices you made before are shown as you left them. Your receipt is under Your choices in You and in your diary export, and turning a choice off is as easy as turning it on.
Before anything changes
The data notice is version 5 (21 October 2026): it adds an optional birthday, a month and a day with the year only if you add it, kept on this phone and used only for the birthday card. Version 4 (20 October 2026) says plainly who can reach a cloud backup (authorised Rhythme administrators and the companies that run the database, only to run, secure or support the service) and that Help improve logging uses backed-up entries on our server to make group results. Version 3 (19 October 2026) made Rhythme for adults 18 and over and each use of your data a separate choice. Everyone who agreed to an older notice is asked again. Turning on cloud backup never changes Luna’s AI help. Any further new use of your data will again show a versioned notice and ask you first.

Changing browser, origin or app installation can show a different set of records. These controls do not delete accounts, other devices, previously downloaded files or records held by a service.

Delete or export local data

No items are selected automatically. Legacy entries keep their original contents unless you explicitly choose to delete them. Unrecognized storage keys are left untouched.

You can prepare an export before deleting. Choosing items or opening the review does not delete anything.

Keep your own export if this diary matters to you: a phone can be lost, and a browser can clear its storage.
